“New PM Tarique Rahman Urges Focus on People’s Welfare”

Date:

Newly appointed Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has instructed ministers and state ministers to prioritize the welfare of the people. The directives were given during his inaugural cabinet meeting at the Secretariat, according to State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam.

Rahman emphasized the government’s responsibility to fulfill the mandate given by the public. He stressed the importance of each ministry carrying out its duties diligently and comprehensively to serve the citizens.

“We have the duty to support and serve the people who elected us faithfully,” Obaed quoted the prime minister as saying. Rahman also emphasized the ministries’ obligation to fulfill the electoral promises and commitments made by the BNP, ensuring that their actions align with these pledges.

The meeting, which commenced at 3:00 pm, lasted for an hour, as confirmed by sources at the PMO. This visit marked Tarique’s first appearance at the Secretariat as prime minister. Traditionally, cabinet and secretaries’ meetings have been held at the Prime Minister’s Office for the past decade.

Following the cabinet meeting, a secretaries’ meeting took place at 4:00 pm. These engagements signaled the official commencement of the new prime minister’s duties at his designated office in the Secretariat.
