Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, is addressing concerns surrounding artificial intelligence (AI) displacing jobs by emphasizing that the technology is creating employment opportunities rather than causing job losses. Speaking at a Milken Institute event, Huang highlighted AI’s potential for economic growth, particularly in the United States. During a discussion with journalist Becky Quick, he characterized AI as a significant job creator on an industrial scale, positioning it as a catalyst for re-industrialization rather than a threat to employment.
Huang noted that AI is currently generating a substantial number of jobs, countering fears about its impact on the workforce. The ongoing public discourse on the rapid adoption of AI and its implications for job markets, especially for younger workers in an increasingly automated environment, has prompted Huang to address these concerns.
In response to worries about automation replacing entire job roles, Huang explained that AI typically takes on specific tasks within a position rather than entirely eliminating the job function. He suggested that apprehensions stem from a misconception about the structure of work, where individual tasks are just one aspect of a broader range of responsibilities.
