OpenAI has introduced its latest artificial intelligence model, GPT-5.5, positioning it as the company’s most advanced and user-friendly model yet, marking a significant stride towards its objective of creating an AI superapp that amalgamates its key offerings into a unified platform.
Greg Brockman, co-founder and president of OpenAI, emphasized that the launch of GPT-5.5 is a pivotal move in the direction of developing a superapp—a versatile and cohesive software that merges ChatGPT, Codex, and an AI browser into a singular solution primarily tailored for corporate clientele, as per reports from Techcrunch.
The rollout of GPT-5.5 follows closely on the heels of the previous model, GPT-5.4, which was unveiled just a month ago, with earlier versions released in December and November. OpenAI highlights that GPT-5.5 is engineered to cater to a wide spectrum of applications, encompassing agentic coding, enterprise knowledge tasks, mathematical computations, and scientific investigations.
Starting Thursday, GPT-5.5 is accessible to Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users within ChatGPT, while a GPT-5.5 Pro edition is being phased in for Pro, Business, and Enterprise subscribers. Comparative analysis data published by OpenAI demonstrates the model’s superior performance in various assessments when juxtaposed with recent models from competitors such as Google and Anthropic.
