Pakistan cricketer Salman Ali Agha has received an official reprimand for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the recent second Test match against Bangladesh in Sylhet. The breach involved Salman’s misuse of cricket equipment during an International Match.
As a result of this incident, Salman has been issued one demerit point, marking his second offense within a 24-month period, bringing his total demerit points to two. His previous violation also pertained to misconduct with cricket equipment in an ODI against Bangladesh earlier this year.
The particular episode took place in the 82nd over of Pakistan’s second innings when Salman, upon getting out, struck an advertising board with his bat while walking back to the pavilion. Salman promptly acknowledged his mistake and agreed to the penalty suggested by match referee Jeff Crowe, thereby eliminating the need for a formal hearing.
The charge was imposed by on-field umpires Richard Kettleborough and Allahuddien Palekar, along with third umpire Kumar Dharmasena and fourth umpire Masudur Rahman Mukul.
Under Level 1 breaches, the possible sanctions range from an official reprimand to a fine amounting to 50% of the player’s match fee, accompanied by one or two demerit points.
