Date:

Qatar’s Emir and US President Donald Trump engaged in a conversation regarding de-escalation and security matters in the Gulf region, as confirmed by the royal court. The Emir’s office disclosed that Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Trump deliberated on the current regional scenario, international initiatives for de-escalation, and the reinforcement of regional security and peace.

The discussions also centered on endorsing diplomatic endeavors aimed at resolving crises through dialogue and peaceful methods. In related events, the US and Iran initiated indirect discussions in Oman subsequent to the deployment of an American naval group, led by an aircraft carrier, to Middle Eastern waters following Tehran’s forceful handling of protesters.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian affirmed that Iran would not succumb to undue demands concerning its nuclear program. He emphasized Iran’s commitment to dialogue with neighboring nations to promote peace and stability in the region. Pezeshkian expressed readiness for any scrutiny of Iran’s nuclear activities, reiterating that Tehran’s intentions are not geared towards acquiring nuclear weapons.

Concurrently, footage circulated on social media captured residents of Tehran voicing dissent against the Islamic republic and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on the eve of the 1979 Islamic revolution anniversary. Recent protests within Iran, met with severe suppression by authorities, had temporarily subdued. However, on a recent evening, individuals emerged on balconies in Tehran chanting slogans denouncing Khamenei and the regime, marking a renewed expression of dissent.
