Renowned artist Fazlur Rahman Babu has returned home following a two-week hospitalization in Gulshan, Dhaka, where he received treatment for a heart condition. The news was confirmed by Rashed Mamun Apu, the Actors’ Equity General Secretary.
Babu was initially admitted to a private hospital in the capital last month after experiencing a heart attack. Subsequently, he was transferred to a Gulshan hospital, where doctors identified a heart blockage. Under the care of cardiac surgeon Dr. Jahangir Kabir, Babu underwent a successful bypass surgery on the 19th.
Although he is back home, Babu is still under medical observation and is reportedly in a stable condition. Apu has requested prayers for his swift recovery.
Fazlur Rahman Babu is a prominent figure in Bangladesh’s cultural landscape, having garnered six National Film Awards throughout his illustrious career. He ventured into television in 1991 with the drama “Mrityukshudha” and made his silver screen debut in 2000 with “Bihongo”.
His impressive filmography includes notable works like “Monpura”, “Oggatonama”, “Swapnajal”, “Haldaa”, and “Fagun Haway”. Additionally, Babu is actively engaged in OTT platforms.
Prior to his illness, Babu was occupied with filming Eid dramas and telefilms, many of which are slated for release during the festival season.
Recently, his film “OCD”, helmed by Saurav Ghoshal, premiered in Kolkata. He also featured in “Sitara” and “Kalantar”, productions from Kolkata. Several of his Bangladeshi film projects are awaiting their release dates.
