Following Arijit Singh’s recent announcement to withdraw from new playback singing projects, Shreya Ghoshal has disclosed that she has also contemplated taking a hiatus.
In an interaction with ABP News, Shreya commended Arijit’s choice, describing it as “very courageous” to pause during the peak of a successful career. “I, too, have moments where I feel like stepping back. He made that decision very boldly,” she remarked, highlighting Arijit as a “heartfelt musician” who crafts music out of passion rather than for personal gain.
Discussing her perspective on live performances, Shreya firmly expressed her refusal to lip-sync during shows, stressing that performing live is integral to her artistic identity. “I find it extremely uncomfortable. The day I have to resort to lip-syncing is the day I will cease singing,” she affirmed.
Emphasizing the significance of artists in uplifting audiences, Shreya underscored, “As entertainers, our personal struggles should not reflect on stage. People seek solace and inspiration through our music. It serves as a healing balm and a means of escape from their troubles.” She attributed her primary source of motivation to the love and energy received from the audience.
