Snap Inc. announced a significant restructuring plan on Wednesday, revealing that approximately 1,000 employees will be laid off and over 300 vacant positions will be eliminated to reduce costs. In an internal email shared with the public, CEO Evan Spiegel outlined that these actions are projected to reduce the company’s annual expenses by over $500 million by the latter half of 2026. Spiegel emphasized that these changes aim to pave the way for Snap to achieve net-income profitability. Additionally, he highlighted the company’s increased utilization of artificial intelligence throughout its operations, noting that AI tools have already enhanced team efficiency by streamlining tasks, accelerating workflow, and enhancing support for users, partners, and advertisers.
