The son of a British couple detained in Iran expressed concerns on Wednesday about the complex geopolitical tensions affecting their situation and urged the British government to take action. Joe Bennett, whose mother Lindsay Foreman and stepfather Craig Foreman have been in Iranian custody since January last year, highlighted the challenges posed by the strained UK-Iran relations and other ongoing global events.
He criticized what the family perceives as a lack of proactive steps from the British authorities, describing the absence of recent communication with Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper and Prime Minister Keir Starmer as worrisome. Bennett emphasized the urgent need for intervention, stating that the current circumstances have made the situation very challenging for his parents.
Speaking outside the UK parliament after meeting with lawmakers to discuss his parents’ case, Bennett emphasized the critical importance of addressing the issue promptly.
