Talha Jubair, the newly appointed pace bowling coach for Bangladesh, expressed his readiness to take on the challenge despite the limited time available before the team’s upcoming series. This appointment follows the departure of Shaun Tait, who resigned from the position due to family reasons.
After a successful tenure with the Tigers, Shaun Tait, an Australian, concluded his coaching role, which began in May last year and culminated with Bangladesh’s historic 2-0 Test series victory over Pakistan last month.
Shahriar Nafees, the cricket operations in-charge, confirmed that Talha, a former Bangladesh pacer, will lead the pace unit in the upcoming white-ball series against Australia, commencing with the first ODI on June 9.
Talha steps into his new role with high expectations as Bangladesh’s pace attack has evolved significantly under previous esteemed coaches such as Allan Donald, Ottis Gibson, and Shaun Tait. The pace bowling department has become a vital asset for Bangladesh, contributing to numerous victories and achievements, setting a high standard for Talha to maintain.
Acknowledging the challenges that lie ahead, Talha expressed his readiness for the task despite the limited time available for significant changes.
During Shaun Tait’s tenure, fast bowler Nahid Rana emerged as a promising talent, emphasizing the transient nature of professional sports and expressing understanding towards Tait’s decision to prioritize family obligations.
Rana highlighted Tait’s coaching approach, focusing on incremental improvements and mental resilience rather than drastic technical changes, which had a positive impact on the players.
Rana, who already shares a strong rapport with Talha from previous collaborations in the Bangladesh Premier League and domestic cricket, is optimistic about their future work together.

Australia is set to arrive for a series comprising three ODIs and three T20Is, with Bangladesh beginning their preparations on June 6.
