Travis Head and his spouse, Jessica, have faced a wave of online harassment following an altercation between the Australian cricketer and Indian star Virat Kohli during an IPL game. The incident occurred during the T20 match featuring Head’s Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Tensions rose as harsh words were exchanged between the players, culminating in Kohli’s dismissal for 15 runs and his team’s subsequent 55-run loss. During the customary post-match handshakes, Kohli notably bypassed Head’s extended hand, opting to shake hands with the other team members instead.
Subsequently, both Travis Head and Jessica’s Instagram profiles were inundated with derogatory comments, believed to be from supporters of the former Indian skipper. Jessica revealed to The Advertiser that not only she but her loved ones had also received hurtful private messages.
Jessica expressed her dismay, stating that her social media accounts were bombarded, causing distress to her circle. She emphasized the importance of recognizing the human aspect behind sports and urged for more compassion and solidarity within the sporting community.
