“US INTERCEPTS IRANIAN ATTACKS IN STRAIT OF HORMUZ”

Date:

Tensions escalated in the Strait of Hormuz yesterday with both the United States and Iran claiming attacks on vessels. President Donald Trump issued a strong warning to Iran, stating that their forces would face severe consequences if they targeted US ships escorting vessels through the strait.

A senior US admiral disclosed that US forces successfully intercepted multiple Iranian missiles and drones aimed at US Navy and commercial ships. Admiral Brad Cooper, the head of US Central Command (CENTCOM), revealed that six of Tehran’s small boats were destroyed in the operation.

Apache and Seahawk helicopters from the US engaged and neutralized “six Iranian small boats threatening commercial shipping,” as stated by Admiral Cooper. He further mentioned that US forces effectively intercepted all missiles and drones fired at both military and commercial vessels in the region.

President Trump took to his Truth Social Platform to announce that seven Iranian boats were hit in the incident, with no reported damage to vessels passing through the strait except for a South Korean ship. In a Fox News interview, Trump outlined two possible paths ahead: reaching a diplomatic agreement or resuming military actions.

The ongoing US naval blockade was highlighted by Trump as a significant military maneuver, signaling potential progress in talks with Iran. Trump’s previous inflammatory remarks, threatening severe actions against Iran, including bombing and destruction, were also recalled.

Contrary to US claims, an Iranian military official dismissed reports of Iranian war boats being sunk. Amid a period of relative calm, the United Arab Emirates reported a drone strike causing a fire at an energy facility in Fujairah, a crucial hub for oil and gas operations.

Following the conflict initiated by US and Israeli forces in February, Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, prompting US forces to implement a blockade on Iranian ports. Negotiations between the two nations have stalled, with the strait’s strategic importance remaining a contentious issue.

Trump announced plans to guide non-combatant ships through the restricted waters, emphasizing safety and navigation concerns. The Iranian military insisted on coordination for safe passage through the strait, while incidents of attacks on tankers were reported by the UKMTO and UAE.

Iran’s blockade of the strait has disrupted global oil, gas, and fertilizer supplies, countered by the US blockade on Iranian ports. Iran expressed willingness to end the conflict but criticized the US for unreasonable demands, calling for a balanced approach to resolve the crisis.

Trump refrained from specifying triggers for potential military action but emphasized the need to protect the humanitarian process in the region. The situation remains tense as both sides navigate through complex negotiations and military posturing.
