WhatsApp has unveiled a fresh array of features on March 26 to enhance user experience, streamline storage management, and bolster cross-device capabilities.
The update brings tools tailored to assist users in efficiently managing storage within individual chats. Users now have the ability to spot and delete large files directly from a conversation without deleting the entire chat history. Moreover, the platform now enables users to selectively clear media files while keeping text messages intact.
In a bid to simplify device transitions while safeguarding messages, photos, and videos, WhatsApp has extended its chat transfer functionality to include transfers between different operating systems, such as from iOS to Android.
Another notable addition is the ability for iOS users to manage two accounts on a single device, a feature previously exclusive to Android. Users can seamlessly switch between accounts within the app, aided by visual cues to differentiate between them.
The latest update also introduces sticker recommendations based on emoji input. As users type, the app suggests relevant stickers as alternatives to standard emojis.
Meta’s artificial intelligence (AI) tools have been integrated into the chat experience, enabling users to edit images before sending them. These features encompass options for background adjustments, removal of unwanted elements, and applying stylistic changes, according to WhatsApp.
Furthermore, WhatsApp has enhanced its writing assistance feature, offering suggested replies based on conversation context. The company assures that these tools prioritize user privacy, although availability may vary by region.
The rollout of these features is gradual, with plans to make them accessible to a wider user base in the upcoming weeks.
