Clinton’s Call for Public Congressional Testimony on Epstein Linked to GOP Politicization

Date:

Former US President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are advocating for their congressional testimony regarding their connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein to be conducted publicly to avoid politicization by Republicans. The couple had been instructed to provide closed-door depositions before the House Oversight Committee, which is investigating Epstein’s relationships with influential individuals and the handling of information related to his criminal activities. Hillary Clinton is scheduled to give her deposition on February 26, followed by Bill Clinton on February 27. House Republicans had previously threatened a contempt vote if the Democratic duo failed to attend the hearing. Bill Clinton argued on Friday that conducting the deposition behind closed doors would be unfair, likening it to a “kangaroo court.” He urged for a public hearing to ensure transparency and fairness in the process.
