“Eid-ul-Azha Rawhide Pricing Revealed: Govt. Increases Rates”

Date:

The government has recently announced the pricing for rawhide during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha festival, with the cost of salted cowhide in Dhaka seeing an increase of Tk 2 per square foot compared to last year.

In Dhaka, the price range for salted cowhide has been set at Tk 62 to Tk 67 per square foot, up from the previous range of Tk 60 to Tk 65. Outside of Dhaka, the pricing for cowhide is now between Tk 57 to Tk 62 per square foot, compared to last year’s range of Tk 55 to Tk 60, as per the Commerce Ministry.

Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir revealed the updated rates during a press conference held at his office in Dhaka after a committee meeting focused on the management of Qurbani-related affairs.

For salted goat skin, the pricing is set at Tk 25 to Tk 30 per square foot, while she-goat skin will be priced between Tk 22 to Tk 25 per square foot. Additionally, the government plans to distribute salt worth Tk 17.60 crore at no cost for the preservation of hides.

Various entities including traders, mosques, and madrasas will participate in leather preservation efforts nationwide. The government aims to prevent any wastage of hides during the upcoming Eid festivities by providing training to representatives from mosques and madrasas on proper hide preservation techniques, coordinated by district and upazila administrations.
