Arne Slot has expressed his confidence in the unwavering support of Liverpool’s ownership amid increasing pressure following a disappointing season for the Dutch manager.
Liverpool’s recent run of poor form includes three consecutive losses, notably a heavy 4-0 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup and a 2-0 setback against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-final first leg. The reigning Premier League champions are now in a challenging position to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League as they prepare to face Fulham this weekend.
Despite the team’s struggles, Slot, now in his second season at Anfield, remains optimistic about the backing he receives from the club’s hierarchy, fans, and key personnel like sporting director Richard Hughes and chief executive of football Michael Edwards. He emphasized the overwhelming support from the fans, citing their encouragement even after disappointing results, such as the loss to City in Paris.
Acknowledging the critical juncture in Liverpool’s season, Slot highlighted the upcoming crucial fixtures, including the second leg against PSG shortly after the Fulham game. He noted that such pivotal moments are common towards the end of the season for all teams, stressing the importance of the upcoming matches in both the Champions League and the league.
In light of the challenging circumstances, Slot reiterated his belief in the ongoing support from all aspects of the club and the understanding of the current phase they are navigating.
