National Film Award-winning director Shahnewaz Kakoli is currently undergoing extensive medical care following a stroke, with her family facing challenges in managing the increasing medical expenses. Her spouse, actor Pran Roy, revealed that he has already sold his personal vehicle to help finance her treatment. Despite this sacrifice, the financial burden remains significant. Pran Roy mentioned that the daily expenses for Kakoli’s treatment exceed Tk 8,000. The stroke has resulted in partial paralysis on one side of her face, impacting her ability to speak normally.
Pran Roy shared, “She is undergoing three different types of therapy on a regular basis. There has been some progress compared to earlier stages. She is now able to feed herself and, with assistance, can sit up.” Kakoli first fell ill in October of the previous year and was swiftly hospitalized, where medical professionals confirmed she had a stroke. Following two months of treatment, she returned home briefly but was rehospitalized on February 1 of the current year due to complications. She is presently receiving care at the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP).
