BNP has revealed a plan for a two-day event to commemorate the Great Independence and National Day on March 26. Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, made the announcement during a press briefing held at the party’s central office in Nayapaltan.
The agenda includes raising the national and party flags at all BNP offices in the morning, followed by BNP leaders and supporters paying respects at the National Memorial in Savar, alongside the president and prime minister. They will then move to Sher-e-Bangla Nagar to lay wreaths at the graves of party founder and former President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, where a special prayer session will be conducted by Jatiyatabadi Olama Dal.
On March 25, BNP will convene a discussion session at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh at 2:30 pm. Rizvi highlighted the significance of Independence and National Day in the country’s history, emphasizing Major Ziaur Rahman’s declaration of independence as a source of motivation for people from all spheres of society during the Liberation War.
BNP has already issued a commemorative poster and will publish special supplements in national newspapers to mark the occasion. Furthermore, district and municipal units, along with associated organizations, will arrange their own events in observance of the day.
Rizvi urged BNP leaders and supporters to ensure the success of the commemorative activities.
