As Eid draws near, Tawsif Mahbub, a well-known actor, gears up for a hectic festive period. This year, he makes a comeback with the latest installment of the popular series “Bachelor Point” and also delves into a new realm with his web series debut in “Chokro 2”. In addition to these significant releases, he is set to feature in several Eid dramas on television. His lineup for the season reflects a deliberate choice to cater to the audience’s preferences over his own.
A major highlight of his Eid schedule is the revival of “Bachelor Point,” helmed by director Kajal Arefin Ome. The show has evolved into one of Bangladesh’s most beloved TV programs over time, amassing a sizable and growing fan base with each season.
Describing “Bachelor Point” as a lively and engaging world, Tawsif expressed his genuine enjoyment of the filming process. Portraying the character Nehal for almost eight years, he acknowledges the rarity of sustaining a character’s popularity for such an extended period.
He attributes the show’s continued success to director Kajal Arefin Ome for maintaining its freshness throughout its long run. While many series tend to lose momentum over time, “Bachelor Point” has successfully retained its audience’s interest.
The upcoming Eid episodes promise fresh content, including the highly anticipated return of Arefin (portrayed by Shamim Hasan Sarkar). This time, the team filmed at the striking Palace Luxury Resort, one of the country’s premier locations, promising visually appealing scenes on screen.
In addition to the humor and energy of “Bachelor Point,” Tawsif ventures into new territory with “Chokro 2,” directed by Vicky Zahed and slated for release on the OTT platform iScreen. This marks his first foray into the OTT series domain, offering a more creative and unrestricted experience compared to traditional television production.
Exploring themes of psychological tension and darker imagery, “Chokro 2” presents one of Tawsif’s most challenging projects to date. The series delves into a different kind of violence, emphasizing the psychological and darker aspects rather than typical action sequences.
Some scenes in the series proved intense, with crew members finding them difficult to witness during filming. The production spanned nearly 20 days, involving late-night shoots and extensive travel to various locations across and beyond Dhaka, presenting both demanding and creatively fulfilling experiences.
Apart from these major projects, Tawsif is set to feature in several small-screen productions this Eid, including titles like “Lilith,” “Golapi,” “Jokhom,” “Prematal,” and “Beshi Bole Bulbuli,” each promising strong narratives and talented direction.
Particularly excited about “Lilith,” directed by Ashikur Rahman and featuring a stellar ensemble cast, Tawsif anticipates a nostalgic television drama experience that resonates with audiences.
Acknowledging the overlap in storytelling patterns across different projects, Tawsif emphasizes the importance of storytelling execution over novelty. He believes that the way a story is told ultimately determines its impact and appeal to viewers.
Despite his personal preferences leaning towards niche content, Tawsif recognizes the importance of catering to mass audiences, especially in television dramas. For this Eid, he consciously selected projects that align more with general audience tastes rather than his own.
With a diverse range of projects on his plate this festive season, spanning genres from romance to comedy to psychological thrillers, Tawsif Mahbub’s Eid lineup showcases his versatility and willingness to explore new horizons, all with the audience’s enjoyment at the forefront of his endeavors.
