The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) recently concluded its inaugural specialized training program focused on Instrument Landing System (ILS) maintenance at the Civil Aviation Academy. The primary goal of the training was to enhance the country’s technical capabilities and diminish the dependence on foreign expertise.
Running for five days, from October 11 to 15, the course gathered 14 individuals from various airports and relevant departments nationwide, as announced by CAAB in a recent press statement.
ILS is a crucial navigational tool that plays a vital role in ensuring safe aircraft landings, especially in challenging weather conditions and situations with limited visibility.
Participants in the training received instruction on system operations, routine maintenance procedures, as well as in identifying technical issues and troubleshooting them effectively.
CAAB highlighted that this initiative is anticipated to enhance the dependability of airport navigation systems, decrease technical disruptions, and bolster the skills of local staff in swiftly addressing faults.
The training program was led by CAAB’s Director of Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance, Prosanta Kumer Shaha, alongside Kazi Shamsul Alam, the Deputy Director of Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
