Akamai Technologies Secures $1.8B Computing Deal

Date:

Anthropic and US-based cloud computing company Akamai Technologies have finalized a computing deal worth $1.8 billion, as reported by Bloomberg News sources. The agreement is crucial for the artificial intelligence startup as it seeks to secure additional processing power for its rapidly expanding software.

Akamai recently announced a significant cloud contract with an undisclosed cutting-edge model provider in their earnings report, refraining from revealing the client’s identity. Both Akamai and Anthropic chose not to provide comments to Reuters regarding the deal.

CEO Tom Leighton mentioned to Reuters that Akamai remains well-positioned to procure essential components like CPUs and GPUs, even amidst rising hardware prices. The collaboration with Anthropic reinforces the startup’s effort to solidify its computing resources.

In a recent update, Anthropic confirmed a partnership with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to leverage the data-center capabilities, signaling a significant alliance between the two entities and a strategic advantage amid intensifying competition in the artificial intelligence sector.
