The 20th edition of the TMSS–Channel i Music Awards 2025 is scheduled to take place on April 7 in Bogura, as announced by organizers during a press briefing in Dhaka.
This year’s event will be held at the prestigious Momo Inn Hotel & Resort, a five-star venue, with Thengamara Mohila Sabuj Sangha (TMSS) as the main sponsor.
The press conference, which took place at Channel i’s studio, disclosed that the awards ceremony will feature 19 categories, including the presentation of a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Renowned and up-and-coming musicians, along with industry professionals from various parts of the country, are anticipated to grace the occasion, marking it as one of South Asia’s premier music award galas.
Key figures present at the press conference included Faridur Reza Sagar, the managing director of Impress Telefilm and Channel i, Shykh Seraj, director and head of news at Channel i, Professor Hosne Ara Begum, the founder and executive director of TMSS, as well as musicians Khurshid Alam and Rafiqul Alam, among others.
Faridur Reza Sagar highlighted the significance of hosting the event in Bogura, a district that has produced three prime ministers of Bangladesh, including the current one. He emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts from all stakeholders for the success of the event and expressed gratitude to TMSS for their support.
Shykh Seraj underscored Channel i’s initiation of the music awards nearly twenty years ago to foster a healthy musical environment and encourage budding artists to pursue music. He expressed optimism that this year’s ceremony would surpass previous editions in vibrancy and excitement.
Professor Hosne Ara Begum highlighted TMSS’s diverse activities across different sectors while maintaining a low profile. She mentioned that the decision to partner with Channel i was influenced by the network’s strong reputation nationally and internationally.
Singer Rafiqul Alam praised Channel i for organizing a large-scale music awards event dedicated solely to music over the past two decades, setting a unique benchmark in South Asia.
The awards will recognize songs released in 2024 across various platforms, including CD, DVD, and digital mediums. A panel of esteemed musicians and experts will serve as judges, as in previous years.
Award categories encompass various aspects of the music industry, including best modern song singer, composer, and lyricist, best band, best emerging engineer, best duet singer, best folk singer, best film song singer, composer, and lyricist, best music video director, best Nazrul Sangeet singer, best Rabindra Sangeet singer, best newcomer, best audio company, along with online view-based awards, in addition to the Lifetime Achievement and special honors.
Notable partners for the event include Ananda Alo as the print media partner, Impress Aviation Limited as the aviation partner, Channel i Online as the online partner, Radio Bhumi 92.8 FM as the radio partner, and iScreen as the OTT partner.
The Channel i Music Awards were inaugurated in 2004 with the objective of promoting quality music in Bangladesh, garnering widespread acclaim from artists and audiences nationwide over the years.
