A tragic incident unfolded today as a young man lost his life in Cumilla’s Lalmai upazila when he was hit by a train.
The victim, identified as Md Mohin Uddin, aged 32 and hailing from Chengahata village in Shilmuri union of Barura upazila, worked as an auto-rickshaw driver.
The fatal accident took place at approximately 7:30 am near the Bagmara rail gate, as described by Sub-Inspector Sohrab Hossain of the Cumilla Railway Police Outpost.
Reports from locals indicate that Mohin was standing perilously close to the railway tracks near the Bagmara rail gate in the morning, engaged in a phone conversation. Tragically, a fast-moving train collided with him, leading to his instant demise.
Following the incident, the railway police retrieved Mohin’s body and transferred it to Cumilla Medical College for a post-mortem examination.
The necessary legal formalities are in progress, with arrangements being made to release the body to the deceased’s family, confirmed the sub-inspector.
