A recent Reuters report revealed that Baidu’s Apollo Go robotaxis faced a major outage in Wuhan, China, leading to passengers being stranded for up to two hours. Authorities labeled the incident as a “system failure,” impacting over 100 self-driving vehicles. The technical glitch resulted in abrupt halts of the vehicles, with some occurrences taking place on busy roads and fast lanes, prompting safety worries. The police are actively investigating the root cause of the malfunction.
Baidu, a prominent player in the robotaxi sector in China, has also made strides globally, with intentions to introduce a fleet exceeding 1,000 autonomous vehicles in Dubai in the near future.
