Bangladesh High Commission Cancels Press Minister’s Contract

Date:

The temporary government has ended the contractual hiring of Faisal Mahmud as the press wing minister at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi ahead of schedule, about nine months before his term was set to conclude. The Ministry of Public Administration, through a notification signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Mohammad Mamun Shibly, announced the cancellation of the remainder of Faisal Mahmud’s appointment. While the notification did not cite a specific reason for this action, Faisal Mahmud had originally been appointed to the role on a two-year contract starting November 24, 2024, with his term scheduled to end on November 23, 2026. This decision coincides with the current political transition following the 13th national parliamentary elections where the BNP emerged victorious and is now working towards establishing a new government.
