Six members of BNP in Sreepur upazila, Gazipur, have been expelled from the party for misconduct towards teachers and breaching party regulations at a school farewell event.
This action was confirmed through a press release on Facebook by Khairul Kabir Mondol Azad, the member secretary of Sreepur upazila BNP.
Khairul Kabir Mondol Azad stated, “They have been expelled based on the party’s constitution.”
The individuals expelled include Md Sarowar Auwal, the former general secretary of ward-1 BNP in Gazipur union, A Mannan Master, the former organising secretary, Md Hasmat Ali Hasu, the former joint secretary, and members Md Arman Ali, Md Mahbub Alam, and Md Rafiqul Islam.
As per the press release, the group caused a disturbance during a farewell event at Banshbari Adarsha High School in Gazipur union under Sreepur upazila on April 19. They were reported to have shown disrespect towards teachers, with the incident being shared on social media.
The Daily Star published an article on April 20 titled “Allegation of locking headmaster’s office for not being invited to school event,” addressing the incident.
Abdul Motaleb, the convener of Sreepur upazila BNP, emphasized that such behavior would not be condoned. He added, “Causing disruption at a school event is not acceptable.”
During a farewell event for SSC examinees at Banshbari Adarsha High School on April 19, local BNP leaders and members reportedly attended without a formal invitation, leading to chaos. Witnesses claimed they seized the microphone from the headmaster, verbally abused teachers and school staff, and eventually locked the headmaster’s office, causing fear among students and resulting in the suspension of the program.
