A fresh political entity called “Alternatives” has emerged spearheaded by former interim government information adviser Mahfuj Alam, revealing a 17-member “national organising committee”. The unveiling of the committee was announced last evening via a press release shared on the platform’s official Facebook page.
Apart from Mahfuj, the committee comprises individuals such as Tajnuva Jabin, Ahmed Ibne Arif (Oni), Iman Syed, Imran Ahmed, Jahin Faruk Amin, Tanvir Chowdhury, Durjoy Das Gupta, Farhadul Alam Sabuj, Maida Tanha Bidushi, Mutasim Billah, Moniruzzaman, Md Raihanur Rahman (Rabi), Mohammad Erfanul Haque, Sajjad Hossain Shahidullah, Sheikh Farid, and Hasan Ali.
Among these members, Tajnuva Jabin and Hasan Ali previously held roles as joint conveners of the National Citizen Party (NCP), while Iman Syed served as the party’s joint chief organiser for the South region.
The press release highlighted the intention to gradually augment the number of members in the national organising committee to align with organizational requirements.
As per the press release, the establishment of the committee by the new platform aims to ensure active involvement of youth in politics, revive the perceived “lost dreams” of the students and populace from July, and reassemble students and citizens nationwide to construct a Bangladesh grounded in accountability and compassion.
The committee members will act as facilitators, tasked with reaching out to politically aware youths in different areas, interacting with families affected by the July events, nurturing fresh leadership, and expanding the organization on a national scale to foster a responsible and participatory political ethos.
The platform announced plans to kickstart organizational initiatives countrywide in the near future. Committee members will progressively initiate outreach programs and discussions in various districts to unite students, laborers, farmers, and the general public while constructing a structured organizational framework.
