Actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s latest film “The Bluff” has become the most popular original movie on global streaming platforms, despite receiving mixed feedback from critics.
Variety’s data reveals that “The Bluff” topped the Streaming Originals: Film chart from February 27 to March 5. Premiered on Prime Video in February, the film garnered an estimated 300.3 million minutes of viewership during that period.
Securing the second spot is “Accused,” helmed by director Anubhuti Kashyap and available on Netflix. This psychological thriller, starring Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Ranta, revolves around a London-based gynecologist facing accusations of misconduct at her workplace, accumulating roughly 213.1 million minutes of viewership.
In third place is David Victori’s “Firebreak” with around 177.2 million minutes watched on Netflix. The documentary “Paul McCartney: Man on the Run,” directed by Morgan Neville and released on Prime Video, claimed the fourth position with approximately 156.2 million minutes viewed.
Completing the top five is “The Wrecking Crew,” directed by Ángel Manuel Soto, which attracted an estimated 110.6 million minutes of viewership on Prime Video.
Fans of Priyanka Chopra celebrated the success on social media, lauding her performance and commitment to the role in “The Bluff.”
Set in the Cayman Islands, the film follows Ercell Borden, portrayed by Chopra, a woman in a Caribbean village whose husband is taken captive by a pirate named Connor, played by Karl Urban. To safeguard her family, she must confront her past and assume the persona of the notorious pirate Bloody Mary.
Directed by Frank E Flowers, the movie is produced by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, and Angela Russo-Otstot under the AGBO banner. The ensemble cast also features Safia Oakley-Green, Temuera Morrison, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Zack Morris, and David Field.
“The Bluff” has been available for streaming on Prime Video since February 25.
