“South Korea and Brazil Strengthen Partnership in Seoul”

South Korea’s President Lee Jae Myung and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva met in Seoul yesterday to discuss enhancing collaboration across various sectors, including trade, technology, and culture. They expressed their intention to upgrade the partnership to a strategic level and cooperate to promote stability on the Korean Peninsula.

During a press briefing, President Lee emphasized the significance of peace as the foundation for security without the need for conflict. The two leaders oversaw the signing of 10 memorandums of understanding covering trade, industrial policies, minerals, digital economy, agriculture, health, biotech, small business interactions, and joint efforts against cybercrime and other global threats.

President Lee outlined a comprehensive four-year action plan aimed at expanding cooperation between the two countries in strategic minerals, defense, space industries, and food security. President Lula highlighted Brazil’s status as South Korea’s primary trading partner in South America, emphasizing Brazil’s substantial rare-earth reserves and nickel deposits, with a keen interest in attracting investments from South Korean firms.
