On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, the state government of West Bengal, India revealed the recipients of the prestigious Banga Samman awards. This year, a group of renowned individuals from the music and entertainment sectors were honored with the Banga Bibhushan and Banga Bhushan accolades.
Celebrating International Mother Language Day on February 21, a distinguished gathering of personalities from the music and entertainment realms were bestowed with the esteemed Banga Bibhushan and Banga Bhushan recognitions. Notably, actor Parambrata Chatterjee was presented with the Banga Bhushan award this year.
In recognition of their outstanding contributions to music, the Banga Bibhushan was bestowed upon Nachiketa Chakraborty, Shibaji Chattopadhyay, Sreeradha Bandyopadhyay, Iman Chakraborty, Lopamudra Mitra, and singer-turned-politician Babul Supriyo. The list of awardees also includes artist Ganesh Haloi and poet Srijato Bandyopadhyay.
In addition to Parambrata, the Banga Bhushan honor was conferred upon singers Manomay Bhattacharya, Raghab Chatterjee, and Rupankar Bagchi. Kartik Das Baul and Aditi Munshi were also recipients of this prestigious recognition.
