The film “Sinners” took home the top prize for best ensemble in a motion picture at the 2026 SAG Actor Awards on Sunday. Michael B Jordan, the star of the film, was also honored as the best lead actor. The awards, formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards, celebrate excellence in acting in both film and television.
Jessie Buckley was awarded best lead actress for her role in “Hamnet,” while Michael B Jordan’s performance as twin bootleggers in “Sinners” earned him the best lead actor title. Director Ryan Coogler made history by winning best ensemble for a second time, having previously won for “Black Panther” in 2018. The SAG Actor Awards are considered a significant precursor to the upcoming Oscars ceremony on March 15.
In the television categories, “The Studio” dominated with three wins, including best ensemble in a comedy series. “The Pitt” also received recognition, winning two awards, including best ensemble in a drama series. Seth Rogen and Catherine O’Hara were recognized as the best lead actor and actress in a comedy series, respectively.
Keri Russell received the best lead actress award for her role in the drama series “The Diplomat,” while Noah Wyle was named best lead actor for “The Pitt.” Michelle Williams and Owen Cooper were honored for their performances in limited series.
Veteran actor Harrison Ford was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the ceremony, which was hosted by Kristen Bell for the second year in a row. The event also addressed global tensions, with SAG-AFTRA executive director Duncan Crabtree-Ireland expressing hopes for peace.
