This Eid, singer Agun makes a comeback to television screens with “Smritir Sur”, a special tribute honoring five iconic figures of Bangla music—Azam Khan, Ayub Bachchu, Shafin Ahmed, Khalid, and Farida Parveen.
Produced and directed by Najmul Alam Rana, the show brings together individuals who have a deep understanding of these artists—their peers, collaborators, and family members. Each episode seamlessly blends personal anecdotes with live performances of the artists’ timeless songs.
The section dedicated to Ayub Bachchu features Naquib Khan from Renaissance and Golam Rahman Romel of LRB. Azam Khan is fondly remembered by Ferdous Wahid and Labu Rahman.
Reflecting on Shafin Ahmed are his brother Hamin Ahmed from Miles and Foad Nasser Babu of Feedback. The Khalid episode showcases Pathik Nabi and lyricist Tarun Munshi. Guests for the Farida Parveen segment include Shafi Mondol and Chandana Majumdar.
Agun, known for avoiding hosting roles, was drawn back by the unique format of the show. “While I often receive hosting offers, this concept stood out to me,” he expressed. “Working on it allowed me to rediscover the essence of Ayub Bachchu, Azam Khan, Shafin Ahmed, Khalid, and Farida Parveen. I believe audiences will have a fresh perspective on these legends.”
The program will be broadcasted during the five evenings following Eid, airing from 6 pm to 7 pm on Channel 24. Additionally, it will be available for streaming on the channel’s Facebook and YouTube platforms.
