MP Orders Demolition of Illegal Structures on Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway

Date:

Gazipur-3 Member of Parliament SM Rafiqul Islam has ordered the immediate removal of all unauthorized constructions along the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Sreepur upazila of the district to alleviate public inconvenience.

The directive was given by the BNP legislator to Tanvir Ahmed, the executive engineer of the Roads and Highways Department (RHD) in Gazipur, during an inspection of water accumulation in the Rongila Bazar area under Telihati union earlier today.

While on-site, the MP noted the presence of multiple illegal structures constructed on RHD property, obstructing proper rainwater drainage and exacerbating the persistent flooding issues on the highway.

“I have directed the authorities to dismantle all unlawful establishments erected on RHD premises along the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway,” he informed the media.

He also emphasized that regardless of whether these structures serve as BNP offices or offices of other political parties, they will be taken down.

According to RHD Executive Engineer Tanvir Ahmed, eviction operations and drainage enhancement efforts will commence promptly as per the MP’s directives to tackle the issue.
