Three members of a foreign national’s family were tragically killed in Monipur village in Homna upazila, Cumilla, on Monday night, as per law enforcement authorities. The victims were identified as Papiya Akter Sukhi, aged 22, the wife of Zahirul, an expatriate in Saudi Arabia; their son Hossain, aged 4; and Zubayer, aged 5, who was the son of Zahirul’s brother Sattar.
Upon receiving information from locals, the police proceeded to the scene and discovered the bodies the following morning, informed Dinesh Dasgupta, the inspector in charge of investigations at Homna Police Station. The bodies exhibited signs of injuries caused by sharp objects, he further stated.
Reportedly, both Zahirul and his brother Sattar currently reside overseas. The deceased bodies have been transferred to the morgue at Cumilla Medical College for further examination, as mentioned by Morshedul Alam, the officer-in-charge at the police station. He also mentioned that the police are actively investigating the incident to establish the motive behind the killings and to apprehend the perpetrators. The process of filing a case related to this tragic event is currently in progress, he added.
