Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Leader of the Opposition Shafiqur Rahman had a brief meeting in the Prime Minister’s office at the parliament building following the funeral prayer of Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed’s wife, Dilara Hafiz.
The meeting occurred after the funeral prayer took place at the South Plaza of the parliament in the afternoon.
Atikur Rahman Ruman, the Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary, mentioned that the discussion between the two leaders was concise.
Following the funeral prayer, the Prime Minister and the opposition leader conversed in the Prime Minister’s office for a while before exiting the room together after approximately 17 to 18 minutes. The specific topic of their conversation was not disclosed, as per Ruman.
LGRD Minister and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also attended the meeting.
Earlier in the day, Tarique attended Dilara Hafiz’s funeral prayer around noon, while Shafiqur was already present at the location before the prayer commenced.
