Virat Kohli’s exceptional performance, scoring an unbeaten 75 runs, led Royal Challengers Bengaluru to clinch their second consecutive IPL championship. The 37-year-old batsman played a crucial role in Bengaluru’s successful chase of 156 runs against Gujarat Titans in the final match held in Ahmedabad.
Known as the “chase master,” Kohli showcased his prowess by accumulating a total of 675 runs throughout the T20 tournament. Head coach Andy Flower praised Kohli, stating that he is the heartbeat of the team’s dressing room and a key contributor to their success.
Kohli’s partnership with Venkatesh Iyer at the beginning of the innings set the tone for Bengaluru’s victory. His aggressive batting, including hitting two fours and a six off Kagiso Rabada, demonstrated his exceptional skills under pressure, earning him praise from former India captain Sunil Gavaskar.
IPL chairman Arun Dhumal commended Kohli, describing him as a living trophy due to his remarkable talent and leadership. Bengaluru’s consistent performance throughout the tournament, finishing on top of the table and securing a direct entry to the final after defeating Gujarat in the playoffs, showcased their dominance.
Despite their success, Bengaluru decided against a public celebration following the final match, mindful of the tragic incident that occurred during their previous victory parade. Captain Rajat Patidar expressed gratitude to the team’s supporters, acknowledging their unwavering dedication and emphasizing the team’s deep connection with their fans.
